Our next event!

Typically a family friendly venue, The Makery will be turning down the lights and turning up the heat for one night of mature content art and craft.

Expect anything from cursing cross-stitch to graphic photography.

Pieces from the "[M]akery: Mature Audience Art & Craft Show" may contain nudity, suggestive dialogue, graphic violence, blood and gore, strong sexual content and crude indecent language. This show is recommended for audiences 17+.

The Makery is located at 1734 Bonnycastle Avenue (corner of Norris Place and Bonnycastle Avenue).

THIS IS A ONE NIGHT ONLY EVENT
Mature content pieces will only be available for purchase the evening of November 12th.

we're getting old!

The Makery opened its doors on October 12, 2007.
How excited are we to be celebrating 3 awesome years of bringing Louisville some of the best the handmade community has to offer??
SOOOOO!

The shop moved July of this year to share a new home with Kopilot Press. In the honor of our new partnership and the general awesomeness of working together, we will be presenting a collaborative show by local artists Matt Dobson and Tyler Deeb entitled "BY A VOWEL."

All prints are hand printed, limited edition, signed by the artists, and very affordably priced.

Come out Friday, October 15th from 6-10pm to celebrate with us and while you're here...BUY A VOWEL!

Project Day

Sometimes I work on some sewing while at the shop. Today was one of those days.
I bought this dress about a year ago from a thrift store here in Louisville. It was super ill fitting. The previous owner must have had quite a rack!
On me, this dress was slim fitting through the hip, and very baggy on the top half. The sleeves were awkard and dated, but I just l o v e d the floral pattern. So... I bought it for maybe $5 and it has just been sitting in my closet.
I have a few events coming up soon and I am on a $0 budget, so shopping for a new dress is out of the question. Luckily, with a little sewing machine magic I was able to take in the side seams, add darts in the bust, and shorten the sleeves of this vintage beauty and voila!

BYO... P?

The shop is back up and running (though we aren't COMPLETELY set up, we are functioning and we love our new home)!

The new space is located at the corner of Norris and Bonnycastle, just blocks from our old location.
The easiest way to get here if you are driving (because Bonnycastle is only One-Way for a couple blocks) is to take Eastern Pkwy and turn onto Norris (opposite the park). We are only two blocks in, at the corner of Bonnycastle (1734 Bonnycastle).

We are so excited to bring you one of the first new perks of our new home... BYOP Night!

Have something you've been working on? Have something you want to start making? Just want to hang out? Come to BYOP (Bring Your Own Project) Night at The Makery!

Join us for our first BYOP Night next Wednesday, July 21st from 5pm-8pm.

All skills and skill levels welcome. Just bring your own supplies and ideas and we'll shoot the breeze while sharing skills and motivation.

We hope to make this a regular event, so if you can't come this round, there's always next time!

what's goin on?!

A lot of changes are coming our way here at The Makery.
So excited to announce that the shop will be moving next week!

The move is a huge step toward making The Makery a more community based space still brining to Louisville some of the best the handmade community has to offer.

Our new spot will be just blocks from our current location, but in a space more conducive to what we have planned for the future of the shop.

The new location will house The Makery and the offices for Kopilot Press. We are super stoked to be sharing a space together.

You can still visit us at our Bardstown Rd. location through Saturday!

New Address:
The Makery
1734 Bonnycastle Avenue (corner of Bonnycastle and Norris)
Louisville, KY 40205

New Hours:
Wednesday-Saturday 12pm - 7pm
Sunday 12pm - 6pm

We will see you at our new spot in July

We still have a great selection here in the shop, so its not too late to check out the loveliness that is Giant Peach.

working it out

We are slowly making ground with our online shop. We have a small selection of goodies up for now and hope to expand this more in the new year.

If its too cold outside for you to venture to Bardstown Rd., or if you don't live close by, you can still get great handmade gifts from The Makery! If there's something your heart desires that we haven't listed, just drop us a line and we'll be glad to work something out for you.
So check it out.. and keep checking back!
