we're getting old!

The Makery opened its doors on October 12, 2007.
How excited are we to be celebrating 3 awesome years of bringing Louisville some of the best the handmade community has to offer??
SOOOOO!

The shop moved July of this year to share a new home with Kopilot Press. In the honor of our new partnership and the general awesomeness of working together, we will be presenting a collaborative show by local artists Matt Dobson and Tyler Deeb entitled "BY A VOWEL."

All prints are hand printed, limited edition, signed by the artists, and very affordably priced.

Come out Friday, October 15th from 6-10pm to celebrate with us and while you're here...BUY A VOWEL!

Project Day

Sometimes I work on some sewing while at the shop. Today was one of those days.
I bought this dress about a year ago from a thrift store here in Louisville. It was super ill fitting. The previous owner must have had quite a rack!
On me, this dress was slim fitting through the hip, and very baggy on the top half. The sleeves were awkard and dated, but I just l o v e d the floral pattern. So... I bought it for maybe $5 and it has just been sitting in my closet.
I have a few events coming up soon and I am on a $0 budget, so shopping for a new dress is out of the question. Luckily, with a little sewing machine magic I was able to take in the side seams, add darts in the bust, and shorten the sleeves of this vintage beauty and voila!

and more to come!

The Makery had a nice gathering on Wednesday for our first BYOP (Bring Your Own Project) Night.
Folks were finishing old projects and starting new ones.
I can't wait to do it again!

Be on the lookout for more BYOP Nights and other fun new gatherings in the works here at the shop!
